Let us examine the nasal bone (os nasale). Together with the nasal bone of the opposite side, it forms the dorsum of the nose.

The borders of this bone are connected to the following structures:

  • superior border is connected with the nasal part of the frontal bone

  • lateral border is connected with the frontal process of the maxilla

  • medial border is connected with the nasal bone of the opposite side, forming the internasal suture (sutura internasalis)

  • inferior border limits the piriform aperture (apertura piriformis)

On the posterior surface of the bone lies the ethmoidal groove (sulcus ethmoidalis), where the anterior ethmoidal nerve passes.
