The forearm (antebrachium) is composed of two bones: the ulna (ulna) and the radius (radius). In the standard anatomical position of a person with the palms turned upward and the thumb facing outward, the ulna is medial, and the radius is lateral.

Let us examine the structure of the radius. It has several main parts:
Body / diaphysis (corpus radii / diaphysis)

Proximal epiphysis (epiphysis proximalis)
Proximal epiphysis (epiphysis proximalis) Distal epiphysis (epiphysis distalis)
Distal epiphysis (epiphysis distalis) There are also several surfaces (best seen in the area of the diaphysis):
Anterior surface (facies anterior)
Posterior surface (facies posterior)
Lateral surface (facies lateralis)
Anterior surface (facies anterior) Posterior surface (facies posterior) Lateral surface (facies lateralis) There are also three differentiated borders:
Anterior border (margo anterior)
Anterior border (margo anterior) Posterior border (margo posterior)
Posterior border (margo posterior) Interosseous border (margo interosseus)

On the proximal epiphysis of the radius lies the head of the radius (caput radii), which has an articular facet (fovea articularis). It connects to the capitulum.

The lateral surfaces of the head are represented by an articular circumference (circumferentia articularis), which connects to the radial notch of the ulna.

The head passes into the neck of the radius (collum radii).

The neck has a radial tuberosity (tuberositas radii) to which the biceps is attached.

On the distal epiphysis of the radius lies the ulnar notch (incisura ulnaris), which connects to the head of the ulna.

On the posterior surface of the distal epiphysis is the carpal articular surface (facies articularis carpalis), serving for articulation with the bones of the proximal carpal bones.

From the distal epiphysis, the styloid process (processus styloideus) is derived on the lateral side.
